How to convert VCD to DVD

Convert your VCD to DVD for reducing the amounts of the disc

If you are a film-fan and have lots of VCD movies in your home, the stack of VCD discs occupied your personal space. Do you want to reduce these disc but retain your collection of movies. Well, DVD is a good choice.

It is well known that a VCD disc has the capacity to hold up to 74/80 minutes on 650MB/700MB CDs respectively of full-motion video along with quality stereo sound. A movie usually is burned in two VCD discs, but the DVD disc is not the case.

DVD is same size as a CD, but single sided DVDs can store 4.7GB for single layer and 8.5GB for dual-layer disks and double sided DVDs can store 9.4GB for single layer and 17GB for dual-layer disks. Therefore, a single sided DVD for single layer can store contents of 7 VCD disc.

VCD is encoded with MPEG-I, and DVD is encoded with MPEG-II. Standard DVD supports MPEG-I, so it is possible to burn VCD(MPEG-I) files on DVD. you should convert the .dat format in the MPEGAV folder in the VCD to MPEG files which compatible with the MPEG-II. Then burn the MPEG files on DVD, you will get your DVD disc.
