Graphic ConverterConvert graphic files from one format to another to suit specific types of imageThere are many image formats in constant use on the net, here we take three most common graphic formats -- GIF, JPG and PNG as an example, to help you understand more about the Graphic formats and the Graphic Converter. When choosing the format for your image, you should always be conscious of both the image’s quality and filesize.Knowing the differences between them will help you make a better choice when you save images. Generally speaking, JPEG is superior to GIF for storing full-color or grey-scale images of "realistic" scenes; that means scanned photographs and similar material. Any continuous variation in color, such as occurs in highlighted or shaded areas, will be represented more faithfully and in less space by JPEG than by GIF. GIF does significantly better on images with only a few distinct colors, such as line drawings and simple cartoons. Not only is GIF lossless for such images, but it often compresses them more than JPEG can. For example, large areas of pixels that are all exactly the same color are compressed very efficiently indeed by GIF. JPEG can't squeeze such data as much as GIF does without introducing visible defects. PNG file format is a comparatively new progressive format originally designed to replace dated GIF, which has got a set of new features that GIF lacks. PNG also performs a lossless compression with the help of Deflate algorithm and supports interlaced mode. In fact, the format supports color depth up to 48 bits and performs a lossless compression, makes possible to hold photorealistic images. PNG format is used specially for networking. From above-mentioned we know that each format is suited to a specific type of image. So we need the Graphic Converter which can convet graphic files from one format to another.
